The 60 percent problem

A premium brand assumed its warranty numbers were complete. The systems said otherwise. What partial warranty coverage really costs, and how to close the gap.

The gap nobody planned

In a real manufacturing project, only around 60% of warranty numbers were reliably available in the systems. Nobody had decided that. It accumulated: four factories with four file formats, imports that silently skipped rows, legacy records that never migrated, and no single owner of the end-to-end flow.

Why partial coverage is expensive

Every missing record becomes a manual investigation at the service desk. An agent asks a factory contact, the factory contact searches an old export, the customer waits. For a premium brand the cost is not just the hour of work. It is the moment the warranty promise visibly fails in front of a customer, dealer or installer.

Closing the gap is a process, not an import

A one-time cleanup restores coverage until the next factory file breaks it again. The durable fix is a governed flow: validation before import, factory-specific transformation rules, enrichment for special cases, error reports with named owners, and notifications when data does not arrive on time.
